Black Widow Spiders The Black Widow Spider can grow up to approximately one half inch. They are usually jet-black and have an hour glass-shaped red spot underneath their abdomen. The name stems from the fact that females often eat males after mating. The male Black Widow is relatively harmless and rarely seen. Black Widows are common in the Southern United States and can be found as far north as Canada. They usually spin small webs in dark, covered areas. |
